In wart removal applications, the most practical method is radiofrequency (RF), also known as vaporization in the community. It is an application that takes about 2-3 minutes on average. In the continuation of our article, we will discuss many methods commonly used for wart treatment. Before turning to the center for wart removal, it is important to know which methods may be more advantageous for your treatment.
Commonly Used Surgical and Non-surgical Applications for Wart Removal
Commonly used methods are RF, laser, electrocautery, and plasma. Surgery is rarely preferred. Or centers that do not have the equipment or expertise to apply non-surgical methods may resort to surgery. We will start our article with non-surgical methods and end it with treatment performed with traditional surgery.
Wart Treatment with Radiofrequency (Can be Called Vaporization Treatment)
It is one of the most commonly used methods. With the device that converts radio waves into heat energy, warts can be easily vaporized in about 2-3 minutes. Regardless of whether warts are bulging or superficial, they can be easily removed with RF. Warts removed with RF usually leave little to no scar in their place. There may rarely be an indistinct mark that cannot be seen from a conversational distance.
Wart Removal with Laser
Laser wart treatment, which is a highly successful method commonly used in the health, cosmetic, and care fields, is a method that patients often request, saying, “I want to have laser wart treatment.” However, this method is only successful in treating superficial warts. Unfortunately, it is not sufficient for bulging and light-colored warts. Its application is similar to RF, and superficial warts can be treated in a short time.
Plasma Technique
It is performed with a device that does not have an electrical connection and operates with a charged or battery-powered device. In plasma treatment, the device tip is brought close to the wart but not in contact. The air between the tip brought close to the wart and the wart is ionized. In other words, the air in between is transformed into plasma, which is the fourth state of matter. The wart is treated with this plasma effect. Plasma treatment can also be used for the treatment of spots and wrinkles besides warts. It is highly effective in superficial warts but not very successful in bulging warts.
Electrocautery Method
Also known simply as cautery, this device converts electrical energy into heat energy. The tip of the device, which provides high heat, is brought into contact with the warts to vaporize them. It is very similar to RF and can be easily applied to both bulging and superficial warts. In treatments performed with a high-power cautery, the physician performing the application must be very sensitive and adjust the sensitivity appropriately. Otherwise, it can be inevitable to have permanent scars and depressions.
Cryotherapy (Freezing)
This method is mostly used by dermatologists. The wart is frozen up to -90 degrees with liquid nitrogen applied. The frozen wart undergoes changes in its protein structure and begins to decay. Decaying warts detach and fall off within a few days. This is a method that requires great attention. Also, the application must be done delicately and in the right dose. Otherwise, more tissue loss than necessary may occur. Loss of healthy tissue can leave gaps behind.
Wart Surgery
It is the oldest and most rooted method. The basis of the surgery is based on the removal of the wart by cutting. It is a highly successful method in terms of removing the wart. However, it is not preferred because it leaves a scar larger and more disturbing than the removed wart. Classical wart surgery can only be used for large and bulging warts. It cannot be used for small or superficial warts. Due to its numerous disadvantages, its use has almost ended, or it is used by very few people.
Which Doctor/Specialty Should be Consulted for Wart Treatment?
You can prefer general surgery specialists or dermatologists for wart removal examination and treatment. I have the necessary experience and equipment for wart removal. During the examination I will perform when you come to my clinic, I recommend the most suitable and advantageous method based on your situation. I use the RF method in almost all of my patients. I complete the procedure by vaporizing your warts in about 3 minutes.
